Does someone know if the non specific calcium blocker blocks all the calcium currents & channels in neurons?
Hi, I came accross the same question long time ago. I had a look to quite a lot of bibliography to answer that. And, no, Cd2+ does not block all Ca channels. You should use a cocktail of Cd2+ 100 mkm, Ni2+ 100 mkm and SNX (can't remember concentration). The latter one blocks R-type, if I remember well.
Anyway, this is what I remember, but please confirm with a review about Ca channels pharmacology.
I see from the Sigma-RBI handbook on calcium channels that Cd2+ block is weak in T channels and potent in L, N, P, Q and R. (2001, Keith Watling Editor.)
For T channels use mibefradil
