I have just posted the following question on the Biochemestry forum site but think that this site might also be helpful.
I am still not sure that I am in the correct forum but wondered if anyone could help me.
I have read a statement that barium sulphate is isosmolar aand as a result would not would not draw water into the bowel lumen (when used as an enema solution). I can not now find my source and the question has arisen whether it should be isotonic. I do not think the latter is right (in this circumstance) and would welcome any input. I beieve it should refer to BaSO4 solution is isosmolar as the water of the solution would be the isotonic aspect of the statement.
