How can I dissolve 4-AP to bath solution?

Hi, please help me.

I'm performing patch clamp experiment. And I'm using just standard bath solution (High conc. NaCl, some KCl, CaCl2, MgCl2 and sodium bicarbonate buffer). To block some currents, I'm considering using 4-AP, but I have some problem in dissolving 4-AP to my bath solution.

Whenever I try to dissolve the 4-AP to my bath solution, some white precipitates are formed. I tried to make 2mM 4-AP bath solution. It is just same even though I try it by making some high conc. 4-AP stock solution. When I diluted the 4-AP stock solution to bath solution, some white precipitates were formed.

The pH of bath solution was just correct, pH 7.3 at the beginning. But when I put some 4-AP into bath solution, the pH of bath solution was suddenly increased a lot.

Is there any special method to dissolve 4-AP to bath solution?

Thanks.

I make my 4-AP solution up

I make my 4-AP solution up fresh and add it to my saline daily, instead of making a more concentrated stock.  If your only buffer is bicarb then unless you're bubbling with CO2 your solution will be too basic.  Are you bubbling your saline with CO2 while addng the 4-AP?  (and while doing your experiment?)
