Disorder or disease?

A friend of mine is in a graduate level human anatomy class. One of the cadavers has a strange disorder where above the layer of muscle is a serious degredation or growth of tissue. It appears intertwined with fats, with different heterogenous coloring compared the the other cadavers. This was unusual enough to stump the TAs and instructors.

Is this the result of prolonged bed rest or infectious disease or disorder?

One can not guesswhat it

One can not guesswhat it could be just from what you described here.
It could be many things even a severe hematoma.
What is the color of the tissue?
Is it between the facia below the fat, or below the facia and above the muscle?

It could be a disease or a disrder but it could be any other thing

I believe the tissue was

I believe the tissue was above the muscle, but the facia was not clearly defined above or below the tissue. Two cysts, cancerous, maybe were found in the arm and leg. Around the cysts were the only areas that clear defined arteries/ veins were found. To me it sounds like the individual was bedridden with cancer, however the state of this 'extra' layer of tissue above the muscle adds a wrinkle to that theory...
