MedImmune has a new opportunity for a Research and Development Associate I/II in the In-process Support Group within the Analytical Biochemistry Department, in Gaithersburg, MD. The successful candidate will utilize chromatographic (HPLC and GC) and spectroscopic methods to support development of biopharmaceutical products, such as humanized monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins. He/she will perform size exclusion, affinity, ion exchange, reversed-phase and hydrophobic interaction chromatographic methods to support in-process and raw material testing and work closely with Process Cell Culture, Process Purification and Manufacturing Science groups. The candidate will also be expected to be familiar with SOP, GLP and GMP requirements for biopharmaceutical product development. The candidate will make detailed experimental observations, review and analyze data, and interpret experimental results. The candidate will need to present and discuss experimental results at group/project team meetings and scientific conferences. Finally, he/she must be able to work in a team structure and interface with different research and development departments.
This position requires a BS or MS degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field, with 1 to 5 years of relevant experience with a BS degree or 0 to 2 years with a MS, preferably working in a bio analytical environment in an industrial setting. A thorough understanding of chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques in protein analysis is required. Familiarity with size exclusion, affinity, reversed phase, ion exchange and hydrophobic interaction chromatographic methods is necessary. Strong interpersonal skills, outstanding verbal and written communication skills are essential.
BS or MS degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field.
