We are looking to recruit a Senior Bioinformatician / Bioinformatician (depending on experience) with good programming knowledge to work in the Parasite Genomics team. Malaria sequencing has entered an exciting phase and you will get the opportunity to compare and apply recent advances in next generation sequencing to assemble, compare and analyse malaria genomes. The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is a world leader in genome research, with an expanding scientific programme dedicated to understanding gene function in health and disease.
This could be the ideal position for you to gain valuable experience in the analysis of next generation sequencing data. The post would also be well suited to a more experienced bioinformatician. The position will involve both data analysis and programming.
The Parasite Genomics group use sequence data to further understand parasite biology and to generate resources of lasting value to the biomedical research. In particular, we are interested in malaria parasites and as a partner of the European Virtual Institute for Malaria Research (EVIMalaR, http://www.evimalar.org/) we aim to produce accurate reference genome sequences for several malaria species.
