Alcon currently has an opening for a Principal Scientist in Duluth, Georgia.
The Principal Scientist is responsible for research and development of contact lens solutions, contact lenses and related medical devices. This position is responsible for proposing and executing sound experimental plans aimed at nominating viable project candidates capable of satisfying a global market. The Principal Scientist employs leadership, communication and collaboration to work within a cross-functional, nimble organization.
The candidate should possess:
Sound understanding of aqueous-based solutions of polymeric systems and their applications in contact lenses, lens package salines, and disinfection systems.
Extensive experience in sound statistical and scientific research methods to assess performance of candidates against project objectives.
Ability to supervise the work of several junior-level scientists.
Sound understanding of transport processes in polymeric membranes and hydrogels.
Fundamental skills in chemical engineering/polymer processing unit operations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ph.D. or Masters in Biomaterials, Polymers, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering.
Minimum Experience Required:
5-10 years of industrial experience preferred.
