Parameters for the evaluation of prognostic biomarkers in lung carcinomas

 Dear all

We are checking up levels of several proteins in the blood / urine and Pleural fluid (Probably we will extend the study to in vitro cell cultures and at a later stage to Biopsy samples as well). Although initial results with these proteins have shown their probable involvement in neoplastic transformation, we are unsure whether these proteins can provide any useful information as far as their prognostic value is concerned.

It will be helpful if you can please provide information on the following parameters

1) Criteria for evaluation as prognostic markers of disease
2) What levels for ELISA or any other allied diagnostic test are permissive for clinical utility
3) If there are more than 1 proteins, is ROC the best option for studying their co-relation with each other and their probable utility as biomarkers.

Although the work is based on lung adenocarciomas but we can derive help from diagnosis/ prognosis basd studies in allied fields and other diseases as well.
