Research Fellow (Ribosome Biogenesis)

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position funded by MRC for a period of three years. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated postdoctoral scientist to join a newly established laboratory. Our research is centred on the key stage of ribosome biogenesis - transcription of ribosomal RNAs by RNA Polymerase I. This project implements cellular and molecular biological approaches combined with biochemistry to address the role of topoisomerase-II in the regulation of rRNA transcription in human cells. Further information about our research can be found at: http://www.qub.ac.uk/schools/SchoolofBiolo...Staff/DrKPanov/.
The successful candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent, hold or be about to submit no later than September 2009) in a relevant area with practical experience in standard molecular/cellular biology techniques and tissue culture of mammalian cell lines. Experience in protein analysis, flow cytometry, real-time PCR and chromatin immunoprecipitation techniques would be an advantage although training can be provided.
Anticipated interview date: Thursday 13 August 2009.
Salary scale: £29,704 - £38,757 per annum (including contribution points).
Closing date: 4.00pm on Friday 24 July 2009.
