Meta analysis of influenza genomes

Meta analysis of influenza genomes

It seems there are 2000 influenza genome sequences available in GenBank currently. I wonder if a meta analysis of these sequences would allow us to identify evolutionary trends in the virus that might help improve future vaccines? Just thinking out loud here.
