Organ transplantation

Dear friends,
I  have a question here....... If possible give me the answers...
How are organs preserved till transplantation? To narrow out my query I need to know how organs which are produced invitro is preserved till transplantation? Does Ischemia and reperfusion injury are common for organs generated invitro as like organs harvested from donors ?

Dear Guru,

Dear Guru,

Thanks for your reply . But I think you haven't understood my question properly.

I am not talking about organs taken from donor or cadaver but how organs produced in in vitro conditions are preserved? For example, how organs produced by stem cell technology in vitro are preserved until transplantation?

Hi

Hi

That's quite an interesting question that you have asked.  One way to look at this would be to note that one of the major areas of tissue regeneration research is focussed on the manipulation and administration of human embryonic stem cells to treat a number of pathological conditions.  In this case, depending on the tissue/area of interest, the cells would be grown in appropriate ES tissue culture media.  I haven't yet seen any information relating to growing entire organs in culture and then transplanting them into an organism.

There are a large number of journals devoted to this subject (such as Stem Cell Research or Regenerative Medicine) which I'm sure would provide good sources of information for culture conditions depending on which organ/tissue area you are interested in.

Dear Heehawmcduff......

Dear Heehawmcduff......
Thanks for your response. As you said there is research going on using stem cells for the transplantation of specific tissues. And one more thing is that you said you aren't aware of any information relating to growing entire organs in culture and transplanting them ........ If so please have a look after the attached PDF file to know "World first as woman gets organ made from stem cells" I dont know whether you are aware of it or not but this is for your information. Now let me know the answers ...... I hope you are clear about my question. procedure to prevent organs made invitro condition.........

Hi.  A very interesting

Hi.  A very interesting article.

This paper describes the culture conditions for the cells used in the study you posted.

Hope it's helpful.

Hi friend,

Hi friend,
Your article was useful for me to gain some extra knowleddge about the clinical transplantation of tissue-engineered airway. But I think you have forgotten my basic question .........My doubt doesnt lies in transplanting the tracheal portion alone ........... Let me be bit clear for you I want to know whether there is specific procedure to prevent organs from damage between invitro production and transplantation.....I just sent that article for ur reference as you said that you are not aware of organs produced invitro.
