Biological Sciences: Centre Manager, CSBE
The Centre for Systems Biology at Edinburgh, CSBE, seeks a Centre Manager. CSBE is hosted by the School of Biological Sciences, with world-leading faculty members drawn from Biological Sciences, Medicine, Engineering, and Informatics. Strong collaborations among the faculty underpin CSBE's research focus on the process of systems modelling. Our research crosses biological processes, species and levels of organisation. Excellent facilities are available for the modelling of dynamic biological processes, using the techniques of computational biology, machine learning, molecular genetics, biochemistry and biophysics.
The Centre Manager will be responsible for the operational running of CSBE at the highest level, in particular for coordinating experimental with theoretical research programmes, for managing knowledge transfer/commercialisation and outreach. This post offers an active role in steering the Centre to a position of international leadership in its field. The Centre Manager will work closely with the Director, management team, and other CSBE faculty in assuring the successful integration of a variety of different disciplinary participants and projects. To achieve this, the postholder must combine a good level of relevant academic understanding, strong project, staff and resource management skills, excellent networking and influencing skills, and ideally some knowledge of relevant specialist business/research skills such as IP management and research proposal development.
Fixed Term: until 30 September 2012
