The Company: A high growth SME in the agriculture/ environment sector is currently recruiting a Laboratory Manager.
Hours: Fixed term 12 month contract with the possibility of extension.
Location: Preston, Lancashire.
This challenging position is ideal for a biomedical sciences graduate or MSc with proficient laboratory skills in microbiology. It is a laboratory-based role which will involve setting up, equipping and efficiently managing the company laboratory with a quality control and research & development focus.
Responsibilities will include: optimizing the company’s existing biological product range, assisting with the development of new products, setting up the laboratory methods and supporting the expansion and management of a comprehensive quality system. Due to the technical aspect of this role the candidate must be comfortable with enzyme assays, cell plate counting of micro-organisms and general laboratory practice.
The successful candidate will be dynamic and multi-disciplined with the ability to work independently. Introducing new processes, analytical methods and protocols is fundamental to the role, as is having excellent communication and organisation skills.
-Setting up, equipping and managing the day-to-day running of the company laboratory.
-Implementing and developing the laboratory quality system and standard operating procedures in support of the business.
-Quality control of existing products and analysis of grass, silage and slurry as a service to our customers.
-Liaising with suppliers to source the best deals for equipment and servicing for the laboratory.
-Co-ordinating annual service, calibration and lab equipment maintenance.
-Research and development of new products.
-Providing technical support to customers when needed.
-Previous laboratory experience within a commercial environment.
-Degree or equivalent standard in a relevant area.
-Ideally has experience working with a Bruker.
