 As an Associate Director of Computational ADME and Safety your main responsibilities will involve:
Leading the development of innovative computational approaches to reduce safety-related attrition in preclinical and early clinical phases.
Providing scientific leadership and expertise to your team as well as expert knowledge of your scientific area within the DSM organisation
Ensure that new technological opportunities are identified and applied internally to support drug discovery projects
Represent DSM in the modeling community within AstraZeneca and participate in strategic initiatives and workstreams
Identify development and growth opportunities for your team
Setting and achieving objectives related to scientific quality and efficiency in discovery safety through active participation in the Discovery Safety Leadership team
Ensuring your team objectives are aligned to the Global Discovery Safety department strategy and objectives and broader AstraZeneca goals and objectives
Developing a strong collaborative network within Discovery Safety and the development of individual talents
As Head of Computational ADME and Safety your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
A PhD education (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline and >6 years post-doctoral experience in a relevant setting
Significant experience in one or more of the following areas in an industrial drug discovery context: Biological understanding and modelling of ADME or safety related endpoints, Applied mathematics/machine learning, Systems biology/bioinformatics/chemoinformatics, Computational chemistry
A thorough understanding of the underlying sciences such as toxicology, biochemistry, DMPK, and medicinal chemistry
An ability to work in a multidisciplinary research matrix and to provide scientific leadership and vision through good communication skills and a broad scientific understanding
A track record in the leadership, management and development of individuals and teams
An awareness of current state-of-the-art methods and trends in the scientific field of computational ADME and Safety
An awareness of relevant legislation and developments in the pharmaceutical industry
