Opening For Head of Division - University of Oxford

Oxford is one of the world's leading science universities and the MPLS Division is home to some of science’s most creative and innovative scientific thinkers and leaders. The MPLS Division's 10 departments and three interdisciplinary units span mathematical, computational, physical, engineering and life sciences, and undertake both fundamental research and cutting-edge applied work used in industry. Our research addresses major societal and technological challenges and is increasingly focused on key interdisciplinary issues. Our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching attracts the brightest students from around the world.
The University wishes to appoint a scientist of distinction to take on the leadership of the MPLS Division, succeeding Professor Alex Halliday, FRS. This is an exciting opportunity to build on strong foundations and to shape the development of science at a premier research-intensive university. The Head of Division will provide leadership to formulate and advance an ambitious vision that encompasses our research agenda and educational strategy, and which seeks to connect our work more strongly with the other divisions of the University and our many external partners. A key priority is the development and delivery of a bold and exciting plan to renew and refresh the division’s physical estate.
