As part of a new initiative, the Wolfson Wohl Cancer Research Centre (WWCRC) at the University of Glasgow  (http://www.gla.ac.uk/researchinstitutes/cancersciences/facilities) is pioneering translational cancer research, focusing on developing improved diagnostic and therapeutic choices for cancer.

Modern biomedical methods generate data that is complex, difficult to manipulate, store and distribute and is challenging for non-computational biologists to analyze and interpret. In partnership with the Harvard School of Public Health’s Bioinformatics Core (http://compbio.sph.harvard.edu/chb, HBC) we seek a Scientific Systems Administrator to help us plan and build a computational research environment in a clinical, whole-genome sequencing environment.

This position will be working with researchers across the WWCRC and clinic to understand current and future needs in data storage, processing and dissemination, support scientific software deployment and maintenance and work closely with a team of IT staff and bioinformatics engineers to develop scalable infrastructure deployed either at the WWCRC or in a cloud-based environment.

This post is funded for 2 years.
