MRC Band 4 Salary £30,124 – £35,860 pa inclusive London W12 The MRC Clinical Sciences Centre (CSC), situated on the Hammersmith Hospital campus (London W12), employs over 400 researchers and fosters an interactive, interdisciplinary environment that provides a dynamic interface between leading basic and clinical research. To support this research the CSC provides “state-of-the-art” facilities for genomics (Illumina GAIIX & High-Seq high-throughput sequencers & microarray), proteomics (LTQ-orbitrap-Velos and a LTQ-orbitrap-XL) and imaging (MRI, PET/SPECT/CT/fMRI).
The CSC is building a new team of Bioinformaticians to work with researchers at the Institute on a wide variety of bioinformatics and informatics research based projects. The CSC is therefore looking to recruit Bioinformaticians into this team, whose project involvement will be diverse and may include: performing and developing bioinformatics analyses for high-throughput sequencing experiments (Chip-seq, RNA-seq, Bisulphite Sequencing, resequencing); microarray and image analysis; developing data pipelines and analysis platforms; conducting statistical analyses of proteomics/genomics/imaging data; algorithm development. In addition the Bioinformaticians will be involved in the development of scientific databases and software applications, the provision and co-ordination of bioinformatics resources and provide support for high performance computing.
The post-holders will work with researchers, computational scientists and IT team members at the CSC, Imperial college, and with external collaborators where required. The post holder will be part of a growing Computational Biology community at the CSC. The successful applicant will have a PhD in bioinformatics with good programming skills and proven experience in bioinformatics support and data analysis. Excellent communication skills and the ability to support and train researchers with bioinformatics software is essential.
