Job Description: 
Designs and implements scientific applications as directed to support basic research and other hospital needs. Creates command-line, GUI-based, and/or web-based programs to store, retrieve, display, or analyze data for research faculty, the Information Sciences department, Hartwell Center shared resources, or other clients in order to advance the hospital's mission. Ensures that program interfaces are responsive, attractive, and easy to use. Delivers working software according to the schedule agreed on by clients and developers. Modifies existing scientific software as directed. Assists in the technical management of applications and servers including software installation, configuration, testing, version control, and file management. Cooperates with other scientific, technical, or administrative staff to ensure that software projects involving multiple groups are properly designed and will interact well with other hospital applications.   Job Qualifications: 


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree preferred.
 
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
If Bachelor's degree, two (2) years of experience in application, database, and/or web development required.
If Master's degree, no additional work experience required; however, demonstrated proficiency in application, database, and/or web development is required.
Experience programming in Unix/Linux environments is required.
Experience in coding standard SQL queries is required.
Experience creating and accessing databases from applications is required.
Biomedical or healthcare experience is preferred.
Experience using cross-platform computer languages is strongly preferred. (e.g., C, C , Perl, Python).
Experience using LAMP technologies (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/Perl) is strongly preferred.
