Senior Learning and Development Manager

Position Summary

Life Technologies has a new opening for a Senior Learning and Development Manager in Carlsbad, CA.

The position reports to the Head of Learning & Development and is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of strategic and tactical leadership, manager and individual training programs for Life Technologies employees.

The Senior Learning and Development Manager plays a key leadership role in supporting the global Learning & Development function in assessing, developing and delivering global learning and development solutions. These solutions, which include offering best-in-class trainings and development processes, are key to building our competitive advantage by developing employees into global leaders and skilled professionals.

Responsibilities

Development and implementation of training programs needed to meet the learning objectives of the organization which align with business strategy and corporate initiatives. Collaborate with leaders to understand ongoing needs, align training curriculums to address needs, and strive for continuous improvement and upgrades to existing courses.

Requirements

8-10 years of successful experience as a Learning and Development Specialist in a corporate environment, and/or Human Resources Generalist experience, with significant program management experience in leadership and professional learning programs as well as on-boarding or new hire orientation processes.

Bachelor’s degree in Training and Development, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Adult Education or a related field is required. Masters degree preferred.

Five (5) years experience in curriculum development and instructional design with an emphasis on classroom and web-based training using instructional design methods.

Robust experience with instructional design theory and methods, content development, and program evaluation; must be able to effectively employ various facilitation techniques, utilize multiple delivery options; and leverage measurement and evaluation theory and methods.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate training to large groups of employees at all levels of the organization on a variety of professional development content areas.

Advanced knowledge of adult learning theories and concepts, as well as demonstrated ability to translate content from subject matter expertise into instructional content, by writing textual descriptions, and developing innovative ways to impart complex concepts to learners, through effective facilitation.

Candidates must be effective at facilitating training sessions with the ability to engage audiences at all levels, including in person, via Webinar, streaming video or other means.

Experience conducting organizational level, program level, and individual level needs analysis to identify learning and development needs and target program development.

Subject matter expertise in leadership content and instructional design methodologies to design and develop leadership development programs for executive and managerial audiences.

Must bring systems thinking/ strategic perspective to training and development to effectively develop program curriculum, as well as individual programs.

Experience in eLearning processes and technologies are desirable.
