Technical Sales Support Executive (Cambridgeshire based, UK)
We are looking for an office-based technical sales support executive/ engineer, to provide assistance to our sales, field sales and marketing team.
This role is pivotal to the sales teams as is will aim to maximise the time that the sales and account managers spend with customers, by providing them with excellent internal support from someone who can deal with sales enquiries.
First and foremost, we are looking for someone who is strongly customer, ssales and service oriented, with a positive attitude and attention to detail.
Working as an integral member of the sales team this role is an internal sales position providing high level technical support to field-based sales and account managers. The position is office based and the candidate should already be located within commutable distance of Cambridge.
The sales role would be ideally suited to an experienced service engineer or technical sales engineer with knowledge of gas and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry with particular emphasis on front-end automated sample preparation techniques.
However, any candidate who has worked in a similar role within in another technical business, or has experience as a user of gas chromatography, liquid chromatography and/or mass spectrometry, would be considered.
Knowledge of Gerstel and Agilent product lines would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail and be able to deliver accurate information in a timely and efficient manner. A proven ability to work with complex analytical instrumentation product guides, configuration tools and pricelists would also be an advantage.
A good proportion of your time may be spent speaking with our sales team or customers and therefore good communication skills are very important for this role.
This role will support the sales and marketing team and you need to be comfortable in doing this as part of this role.
Working as an integral part of the sales team to ensure sales and order targets are achieved for each FYE.
Provide accurate and detailed customer quotations in a timely fashion.
Ensure product guides, item descriptions and pricelist information is accurate and up-to-date and easily accessible to the whole sales team.
Provide efficient timely support to the sales team when working in the field.
Liaise closely with the office manager to ensure accurate hand-over from quotation to placing the order with our suppliers.
Work closely with the marketing team to deliver accurate customer focused marketing material
Support the sales team in providing a fast and efficient response to leads and customer enquiries.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
? Broad knowledge and experience in gas and liquid chromatography - mass spectrometry, especially front-end automated sample preparation. Some experience of Gerstel and Agilent instrumentation is preferred.
? Excellent skills in maintaining and collating complex product information in electronic form, including product brochures, application notes, presentations, configuration guides, pricelists and any other associated documentation in support of a field sales team.
? Excellent attention to detail is essential to this role.
? Demonstrated ability of working with complex product configuration guides and pricelists would be advantageous.
? General knowledge of the chemical analysis and life sciences instrumentation market.
? Hands-on experience in liquid and/or gas chromatography, mass spectrometry would be an advantage.
Education and Experience:
? Scientific degree or equivalent experience in a scientific field
? 5 years of experience in a laboratory environment
? Specialized training in gas and liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry
