PLEASE NOTE: This position is contingent upon contract award and funding
This position is for a Chemist at the Red River Army Depot. Need an analytical chemist who meets the qualifications for GS-11 level entry. This position would be involved in the analytical determinations of engine oil. The Chemist will collect and evaluate samples to help determine vehicle maintenance needs. Qualification at this level also requires one year of specialized work experience considered equivalent to GS-9 level chemistry work.
Special consideration may be given to those with practical experience in more advanced chromatographic methods for environmental samples and/or with any certifications in our major areas of business such as for evaluation of AOAP samples. Consideration will also be given to applicants who believes they meet the requirements for GS-11 entry level chemistry positions.
Qualifications can be met by education, experience or a combination of the two.
Basic educational requirements are a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields – physical sciences, life sciences or engineering – to include at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by coursework in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.
Qualification at this level also requires one year of specialized work experience considered equivalent to GS-9 level chemistry work.
Standard Job Description
Conducts exploratory research to produce new knowledge and potential products; conceives, organizes, promotes, and executes ideas and plans to increase chemistry's role in and contribution to the discovery and chemical approaches to meet exploratory objectives in product discovery. Develops research proposals to provide a technically and economically sound basis for developing and evaluating new or improved products, synthetic methods, processes, and analytical and physical testing techniques. Recommends utilization of the results or changes in the scope of work or termination of projects.
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience; or no experience required with a related Masters degree. Considered experienced, but still a learner.
