King's College London is forming a new Dept of Chemistry within its School of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (www.kcl.ac.uk/nms).
King's is seeking to appoint a Head of Chemistry who will provide academic and teaching leadership for chemistry across King's, establishing at the College a reputation for excellence in Chemistry as an independent discipline within the School of Natural and Mathematical Sciences and across the health schools whose research and teaching fundamentally depend upon the subject.
The Research of the Department will broadly be chemical biology, in the sense of using chemical methods and understanding to elucidate the molecular interactions that give rise to biological mechanisms and practical applications in the translation of research in clinical medicine and biomedicine.
Chemical applications currently range from drug discovery and delivery to imaging science, and related materials science and nanotechnology.
