Opening For Senior Polymer Chemist - United Kingdom

 As an experienced Polymer Chemist or Materials Scientist with a background in polymer science you will work as part of the innovation team, you will work with a group of scientists and lab staff to develop new technology platforms and product offerings to meet evolving market needs. Driven by global trends, for example, sustainability, health awareness and urbanisation, you will work at the front-end of the innovation cycle to identify unmet needs and define future business opportunities. In collaboration with the global commercial, R&D and applications teams, you will then initiate and deliver research & development programs to introduce new prototypes and products to our customers.
Key Responsibilities 
• To take day to day responsibility for laboratory safety and to ensure all personnel act in accordance with company's SHE directives.
• To help drive ideas generation and concept assessment to ensure the value proposition meets the business needs.
• To make recommendations for new development projects in consultation with Technical Manager and Commercial colleagues.
• To Plan, deliver and administer projects from the company’s new Product Development system, including pilot and production phases to launch.
• Provide expert support to Operations, Customers and R&D related to the chemistry, processing and applications of the Companies’ products.
• To have comprehensive understanding of Companies’ products & applications & to be aware of the full range of products.
• To support the development and training of laboratory personnel to ensure the company's high standards are maintained.
• Lead and manage direct reports to ensure a high quality of day-to-day work output (if applicable).
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Required:
• A degree or equivalent qualification in Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science.
• Extensive experience in a R&D environment, preferably in the polymer field.
• A background from Construction & Coatings and/or Adhesives along with experience of customer contact would be a distinct advantage
• Experience of working in the manufacturing (preferably chemical) industry.
• Ability to effectively and efficiently manage own workload and work to deadlines. 
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external contacts at all levels.
• Ability to manage and motivate cross functional project teams.
• Demonstrable track record in new product development and the management of associated IP and legislative processes.
