 The University of Kentucky, Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) anticipates adding a research position in the CO2 capture
area. The researcher’s primary responsibility will be in solvent degradation and analytical method development. A summary of the
position is listed below:
Postdoctoral Scholar
The University of Kentucky, Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) is seeking to fill an immediate full-time opening. The
successful candidate will develop and test methods for understanding solvent degradation as related to CO2 capture solvents. Other
responsibilities will include developing analytical methods to quantify degradation products.
The position requires a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field from an accredited college or university. Other degrees will be
considered assuming relevant experience. Prior experience in amine degradation chemistry and extensive method development
experience using a variety of separation methods are highly desirable.
The ideal candidate should:
• Have demonstrated method development skills related to GC, IC, HPLC.
• Have experience with MS operation and interpretation.
• Be able to devise and test methods for accelerated solvent degradation.
• Be able to work both independently and as a member of a research team.
• Have excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to present their work at scientific meetings and to
peer-reviewed journals.
