Today, we have 11,000+ employees highly dedicated and talented employees, global marketing and sales capabilities with a presence in more than 100 countries, a rich and ever-evolving portfolio of pharmaceuticals, biologics, medical devices and over-the-counter consumer products, and state-of-the-art resources in R&D, manufacturing and safety surveillance that help millions of patients see more clearly, move more freely and express themselves more fully. From our beginnings as an eye care company to our focus today on several medical specialties, including eye care, neurosciences, medical aesthetics, medical dermatology, breast aesthetics, and urologics, Allergan is proud to celebrate 60 years of medical advances and proud to support the patients and physicians who rely on our products and the employees and communities in which we live and work.

A Principal Scientist routinely uses a sophisticated level of expertise and novel approaches in one or more core disciplines (e.g. physical chemistry, polymer physical chemistry, physical organic chemistry, or material science) to design, execute, and draw conclusions from studies aimed at addressing highly complex and ambiguous multi-disciplinary problems related to product development. Has a working knowledge of basic scientific principles in one or more other related disciplines such as formulation development, pharmacokinetics, pharmaceutical engineering, and drug delivery. Influences the scientific and strategic direction of Program and Project teams at the Global Pharmaceutical Sciences (GPS) level, and begins to influence at the Research and Development level. Has an understanding of basic key scientific principles for disciplines represented at the Global Development Team level.

Independently identifies opportunities for enhancing productivity and self-initiates activities to address these opportunities obtaining support from necessary stake holders and leaders. Constructively leverages internal and external networks to reduce new technology to practice. Demonstrates a sustained record of creativity and productivity as evident from continued, outstanding accomplishments. Established external recognition for scientific expertise. Peer recognition based on continued high quality of research or development contributions Sustained record of publications or presentation or ?publication quality? technical reports in an applied field to establish as a renowned expert in that field. Manages the research initiatives of other scientists, and leads research initiatives within Department. Provides scientific leadership and coaching to scientists within GPS within core disciplines and auxiliary disciplines.

May lead a global development project team. Makes significant technical and strategic contributions to an Allergan Program Team or Project Team based on a thorough knowledge of line function roles and responsibilities, basic knowledge of drug development process, and regulatory requirements. Capable of authoring relevant sections of regulatory documents when necessary. Effectively communicates scientific conclusions and project issues to key stake holders and line leaders within department. Independently sets priorities aligned with department goals and manages time in order to meet the changing demands which accompany the simultaneous pursuit of multiple projects. Authors technical reports, memos and related regulatory documents to support project goals and milestones. Makes effective oral presentations at Program or Project Meetings.
