Lead the Glassmaking operations section to achieve safety, quality, cost, and productivity performance. Duties include operations leadership and management of cane inventories.

Day to Day Responsibilities:
• Meet all department production objectives – safety, quality, cost, and capacity
• Champion safety performance; Enforce all safety regulations
• Oversee and maintain a trained spill team for the Blank making areas; Ensure monthly spill drills are conducted
• Manage Glassmaking production including shift supervisors, technicians, associates and day personnel
• Ensure employees are accountable for adherence to established procedures and performance metrics; Ensure awareness and compliance to changes
• Utilize employee performance metrics for communication and accountability to achieve targets
• Review performance and department updates with shift leadership and members at regular intervals including meetings on shifts
• Ensure shift teams have clear ownership of performance issues between production, MET, and engineering
• Responsible for cane inventories for both Wilmington and Concord using excel models and equipment counts to create weekly schedule
• Manage equipment selects and utilization to meet and exceed budget
• Establish effective transfer of new process technologies to manufacturing
• Ensure department production capacity meets demand, both current and future
• Manage department staffing and overtime levels
• Maintain and increase team/individual skill level in support of continuous improvement and advancing process technologies
• Assure department spend is within budget; Identify cost saving opportunities
• Define, manage, and support continuous improvement of existing manufacturing processes
• Resolve conflict and develop team performance; Coach teams and provide guidance to support team development
• Work with Department Union representation to address/resolve issues

• Safety improvement
• Lean manufacturing
• New technology initiatives

Travel Requirements:
• <5%

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
• Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, additional time as required, weekend team

Required Education:
• B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, or Supply Chain

Required Years and Area of Experience:
• Minimum 5 yrs. experience in manufacturing and
• Minimum 4 yrs. Supervisory experience

Required Skills:
• Demonstrated safety leadership
• Proven ability to effectively lead and motivate production teams
• Sound decision making skills - ability to effectively analyze data from multiple sources and set direction
• Ability to handle/prioritize multiple tasks as necessary
• Communicate frequently and effectively to different audiences – strong oral, written and presentation skills
• Strong people skills - able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
• Good time management and organization skills
• Experience working with production teams in a union environment

• COF manufacturing or engineering experience
