Illumina are the global leaders in the development of Next Generation DNA Sequencing Technology (NGS). With over 90% of the world’s NGS data being produced using Illumina technology, it’s clear that our hardware, software and reagents represent the most reliable and accurate genomics platforms on the market today.
Within Illumina’s EMEA R&D facility in Cambridgeshire we are actively seeking an experienced Process Development Engineer to help optimise our internal production sequencing process. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a number of areas and help Illumina to deliver on such key projects as the Genomics England project, by ensuring that processes are robust and efficient.
Key Deliverables:
• Able to look holistically at current process and advise project managers/team leaders and supervisors on potential areas for improvement
• Work with Quality Assurance to develop procedures and operating practices that maximize output whilst adhering to strict GLP guidelines
• Be confident delivering key metrics to snr management to ensure all stakeholders are onboard
• Deliver significant increases to Illumina’s DNA sequencing output
• Actively seek cost and time reduction strategies to Illumina’s production sequencing function
The Candidate:
• A solid bachelor degree or higher qualification in scientific or technical subject
• Proven experience in process development within either the biotech/pharma/diagnostics industry
• Demonstrable communication skills (verbal and written) – confident networking with senior managers and operational staff
• Comfortable working in a project-led environment – must be able to organise their own workload and drive the right activities to achieve key deliverables
• A knowledge of NGS systems/platforms would be desirable but not essential
