Scope of Position:
· The scope of the position includes the execution of experiments related to optics, physics and mechanics.
· The candidate will engage active research and development projects related to fiber optics, cable, connectors and hardware.
Responsibilities:
· Assist and create optical systems for experimental execution
· Work with a team of scientists, engineers and technicians
· Perform experimental and data analysis
· Create and deliver reports and presentations
Hours of work / work schedule / flex-time: Basic work hours are 40hrs/week; 8am-5pm
Education and Experience:
· Enrolled in BS or MS program related to optics, physics, mechanics or similar scientific discipline
· Course work completed to include: chemistry, physics, optics, mechanics, calculus
· GPA of 3.0 or above
· Relevant experience a plus
Required Skills:
· Computer literate in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Problem-solving skills
· Organizational skills
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
· Ability to build relationships and interact with all levels of the organization
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information
· Results-oriented
· Flexibility - Able to change and adjust smoothly as the situation demands
Desired Skills:
· Developed, designed or constructed theoretical or physical optical systems for experimental execution
· Developed, designed or constructed theoretical or physical mechanical systems for experimental execution
