The new energy initiative is an important part of the University’s strategic focus on health care, the environment, sustainable energy and the effects of global climate change.

The University of Oslo is launching UiO:Energy, an interdisciplinary initiative in the field of sustainable energy systems and is seeking a Director to head this exciting new programme. The main objective is to contribute to the development, dissemination and use of knowledge that will contribute to securing new systems of energy production, distribution and consumption to meet the needs of the present without compromising the energy requirements of future generations.
The Director will be responsible for the strategic direction and development of UiO:Energy. This will involve initiating, developing, coordinating and following-up joint research, education and innovation activities within relevant faculties at UiO. The Director will also help to position UiO:Energy nationally through close contact with political authorities and the Research Council of Norway. In collaboration with the academic/scientific communities, he/she will develop models for national and international alliances and cooperationand play an influential role in existing relevant networks.
We are seeking an inspiring Director with powerful networking skills and the ability to make a major positive contribution to this area of global significance. Emphasis will be placed on excellent interpersonal skills, the proven ability to transcend disciplinary boundaries, the aptitude to engage with and lead interdisciplinary groups, and the proficiency to foster enthusiasm for UiO:Energy amongst participants both internally and externally. Candidates should be able to document excellent academic qualifications (Professor level) within one or more of the research areas covered by UiO:Energy and demonstrate that they have a highly regarded international reputation and network within their field of expertise.
