The University of the West Indies (UWI) is a dynamic, international institution serving the countries of the Commonwealth Caribbean. Its faculties offer a wide range of undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programmes in Humanities and Education, Pure and Applied Sciences, Science and Agriculture, Engineering, Law, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences.
The Department of Pathology offers undergraduate teaching to students in the FMS and postgraduate professional programmes in sub-specialities of Anatomical Pathology, Chemical Pathology and Haematology. The FMS is extending its clinical teaching to include the Western Campus of the UWI and as such, our teaching and research functions will now extend to the pathological services of the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay. We are therefore seeking suitably qualified candidates to join our team in the position of:
SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER IN ANATOMICAL PATHOLOGY
Qualifications and Experience:
Applicants should have:
• A Medical Degree from a recognized University Medical School;
• A higher degree or Board Certification/Royal College Fellowship in Anatomical Pathology;
• Considerable experience in teaching science/medical students at the University level;
• Interest and experience in research in Pathology;
• A solid publication record.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Lecturer/Lecturer will report to the Head, Department of Pathology and the core duties of the post include:
• Teaching of Anatomical Pathology at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
• Participating in the supervision and training of postgraduate students as necessary;
• Research and Publication in Anatomical Pathology and related areas;
• Active contribution to the development and affairs of the Department in all areas.
