Biomolecular Label Chemistry
The Institute of Biochemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (WWU) invites applications for a position in the newly established “Cells in Motion – CiM” cluster of excellence available immediately. CiM is a new interfaculty excellence cluster involving Medicine, Chemistry and Pharmacy, Biology, Physics, Mathematics and Computer Sciences (www.cells-in-motion.de). It aims at bridging existing excellence in Münster in single cell imaging and molecular whole body imaging.
The successful candidate will be selected through outstanding achievements in the fields of modern labeling technologies at the interface of biochemistry or cell biology. He/She should have a track record in the development and application of functional probes for the visualization or manipulation of biomolecules in cells or organisms (for example, new probes for approaches in modern fluorescence microscopy or spectroscopy). In particular, a combination of expertise in synthetic chemistry and biomedical research interests is desirable. Teaching is expected in the field of biochemistry (in German language within two years).
Close collaboration with the existing individual research groups at the Institute of Biochemistry, the Department and CiM is expected. Preference will be given to individuals whose interests are synergistic with ongoing collaborative research programs at the involved faculties, the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine, and the European Institute for Molecular Imaging (EIMI) – such as SFB 629 Molecular Cell Dynamics; SFB 656 Molecular Cardiovascular Imaging; SFB 1009 Breaking Barriers; SFB 858 Synergistic Effects in Chemistry, and existing graduate schools.
Prerequisite for the application are scientific achievements as a (junior) professor, from a postdoctoral lecture qualification (habilitation), as a research scientist at a school of higher education/university, non-university institutes, industry, administration, or other fields of society within or outside Germany.
The Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to raising the proportion of women scientists in senior positions. Consequently, we actively encourage applications from suitably-qualified women. Women with the qualifications and disciplinary expertise required will be preferential considered. We also welcome applications from candidates with severe disabilities who, with suitable qualifications, will be preferential considered.
The application including relevant supporting documents, a two-page summary of the research plan, a maximum of five publications, and a teaching concept should be sent (preferentially electronically in a single pdf-file) to the Dean of the Department (address below) prior to 10.12.2012.
