This is an exciting opportunity to develop medical research imaging analysis at the University of Edinburgh. Imaging within Edinburgh is vibrant and expanding. There is access to state of the art multi-modality imaging facilities from MR to single proteins in cells plus experience in all aspects of image analysis.

The purpose of this job is to develop the medical image analysis capability for research in Edinburgh; enhancing an existing portfolio of well-characterised image acquisition techniques; translating and simplifying these techniques for wider use by research staff or for image analysis of other organ systems, as required. This post is based in the Brain Research Imaging Centre (BRIC)  www.bric.ed.ac.uk  but will collaborate in supporting the multicentre and multidisciplinary work of Clinical Imaging in Edinburgh. It is part of capacity building, hence has teaching and PhD supervisory components, to develop future Clinical Imaging analysis research in Edinburgh. BRIC is part of the Centre for In Vivo Imaging Sciences (CIVIS) www.edinburghimaging.ed.ac.uk  in Edinburgh and the SINAPSE collaboration in Scotland www.sinapse.ac.uk , in which the post holder would be expected to play an active role.

A good undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. physics, engineering, mathematics or computing). Extensive research experience with image analysis techniques is also required, preferably MRI, supported by relevant qualifications (normally PhD) plus a growing research portfolio, publication record, and grants. Experience in delivering research projects including all aspects of study design, implementation and analysis is important, as are good interpersonal communication skills and ability to work well within the multidisciplinary team. The post-holder would be expected to lecture and supervise PhD, MSc and undergraduate students.

The UoE grade 7 post is for 3 years funded by the Row Fogo Charitable Trust
