Salary Range £18,200 to £29,700


The Beatson Institute in Glasgow is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres. It is core funded by Cancer Research UK and supports cutting edge research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. The Institute has recently moved to a new facility that provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the-art core services and advanced technologies.
 
A position is available for a Scientific Officer to join the Vascular Proteomics laboratory. Our laboratory uses state-of-the-art mass spectrometry (MS) based approaches in basic cancer research. In addition to our own research program investigating molecular mechanisms regulating the formation of new vessels (angiogenesis) in tumors, we are active in collaborative research projects with the other groups at the Institute and outside aimed at using MS based approaches in related field of research.
 
You must be educated to degree level or equivalent and have previous experience of using primary tissue culture, while experience of one or more of the following is desirable: chromatography, mouse/human tissue analysis, protein analysis or MS sample preparation. You must also have good communication skills, be proficient in presenting data, be willing to learn new protocols/techniques and show enthusiasm for working on independent research projects and collaborative projects. Experience of supervising research students would be an advantage.
