Scientist Position in Molecular Placental Biology


The Sainte-Justine University Hospital Research Center is seeking applications for a scientist position in the field of placental biology and development. We seek one outstanding scientist addressing molecular and cellular mechanisms of placenta. Applicants with programs in the areas of molecular embryology or placental development are particularly encouraged to apply. Successful applicants must be familiar with the latest concepts and techniques from molecular/developmental biology, genomics, proteomics and translate these approaches into novel strategies to diagnose, prevent and study human pregnancies with placental disorders.
The Sainte-Justine University Hospital Research Center specializes in pediatric and maternal health and provides a vibrant, interdisciplinary and highly collaborative research community. Scientists have access to state-of-the-art research cores in microscopy, genomics, genetics and transgenic biology. The Sainte-Justine Hospital is a tertiary center with the largest high risk pregnancy referral center in Quebec. It represents an excellent opportunity for a scientist working in the field of placental biology and disorders related to pregnancy.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D degree in the appropriate field plus 4-6 years of relevant postdoctoral experience in the fields of interest and have a strong track record in terms of peer-reviewed publications and research accomplishments. The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain an externally-funded basic research program. The candidate must be eligible for a salary funding from an external granting agency.
As teaching is performed in French, a non-French speaking candidate will need to be able to teach in French within 3 years of his/her arrival.

Start Date: Spring or summer 2013.
