The Medical Faculty of the University of Bern is accepting applications for a faculty position at the level of tenure-track Assistant Professor or Full Professor. The successful candidate will participate in the new National Center of Competence for Research (NCCR) called «TransCure – From Transport Physiology to Identification of Therapeutic Targets» (see:
We seek candidates with leadership in biopharmacy research related to membrane proteins, such as transporters and channels. The successful candidate will establish an independent and internationally competitive research program that attracts external funding. He/she will determine the pharmacodynamics and toxicological properties of lead compounds that are being developed in the NCCR TransCure network, using modern technologies (possibly including transgenic approaches). Additional experience in membrane protein chemistry and drug screening technologies will be an asset. Preference will be given to candidates who have a documented record of independent and innovative research, with publications in high impact journals. In addition, he/she will assist in teaching Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Pharmacology to students of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy. Fluency in German would be of advantage.
