Salary Range: £22,971 - £24,370
You will assist in a project directed toward the functional characterization of an osteoarthritis (OA) susceptibility locus that maps to chromosome 3p21.1. You will assist in the use of a range of laboratory techniques to help characterise the causal OA susceptibility allele/s at the locus. You will work alongside a full-time postdoctoral scientist joining a research group headed by Professor Loughlin.
You should have a minimum HNC/HND in a relevant subject as well as experience in cell and/or molecular biology, preferably in a laboratory environment, and experience in: PCR, cloning, gene expression analysis including cDNA synthesis, cDNA-PCR and real-time PCR, tissue culture.
You will have excellent time-management and organizational skills, good IT skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to be independent and work within a team. You must be able to interact staff at all grades.
The position is tenable for 3 years.
