Opening For Postdoc Position - Dübendorf, Switzerland

Recent progress in room temperature quantum cascade lasers and mid-IR detectors provides exciting opportunities for optical sensor developments. Within nanotera.ch we bring the know-how of leading groups in Switzerland together to create a photonic sensor platform with high performance and reliability at minimal cost. This platform will leverage on multi-wavelength quantum cascade laser sources, novel absorption cell designs and state-of-the-art electronics. The ultimate goal is a flexible, high-precision, multi-species gas analyser for environmental, industrial and medical applications.

The successful candidate will integrate the key elements from our research consortium to build a compact and versatile optical sensor. In close collaboration with scientists from Empa, ETHZ, UniNE and FHNW you will join our ongoing efforts to design the most efficient optical layout, integrate our latest QCL sources and develop a fully autonomous demonstrator platform.

The position will be available from October 1st, 2014 for a duration of 36 months.

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with a PhD in physics or a related discipline, a thorough background in optics, electronics and laser spectroscopy as well as a strong interest in instrument development. Experience in related fields is an asset.
