Prior teaching and research experience and commitment to scholarship is essential for this position. The candidate’s area of research, either fundamental or applied, will focus on human health. The primary area of expertise should relate to microbiology including a sound knowledge of infectious disease and molecular mechanisms deployed by microbes in order to survive in diverse environments, colonise, and multiply during infection.

The suitable candidate will have a PhD and extensive research experience in areas of microbiology related to human health, particularly in Genomics/Bioinformatics, Immunology and/or molecular biology. These research interests will preferably be complementary to the activities of current staff. Experience with designing and delivering innovative and effective online teaching and learning programs, is essential for this post. Candidates should possess a natural ability to interact with students and have an established track record in developing and completing research projects, evidenced through documented research outputs. An outgoing and motivating personality is essential, together with excellent communication skills.
