Research Fellow in Neuroscience Assay Development and Screening
Fixed term for two years, full time
Salary range: starting at £30,728 and rising to £36,661 per annum
Expected Start Date: ASAP
We are looking for an experienced assay development and screening scientist to join our multidisciplinary drug discovery group. Within the Translational Drug Discovery Group at the University of Sussex, you will be responsible for the characterisation of developing assays and screening molecules that will be crucial for establishing our portfolio of novel neuroscience targets. Accordingly, you will be required to work across a number of neuroscience projects and interact with multiple team members. Day-to-day activities will include the screening and characterisation of novel compounds to confirm and establish their mechanism of action. In this pivotal role, you will be expected to provide leadership and guidance to less experienced members of staff.
The role requires strong communication skills across scientific and institutional boundaries and an attitude of open and active collaboration. The role holder will work closely with protein biophysical scientists, medicinal chemists and chemoinformaticians within the Translational Drug Discovery Group and structural biologists within the University as well as forming links with external academic and industrial partners.
An enthusiastic commitment to team work is essential and experience of working in the neuroscience area is desirable.
The post is for 2 years and is based at the University of Sussex in Brighton.
