I WANT TO KNOW IF ANY ANOTHER CHEMICAL WHICH DISSOLVE ALUM RATHER THAN WATER?
which specific alum you want to dissolve(soda alum , chrome alum, ammonium alum, etc) The solubility limit of alum in water at room temperature is about 1.2 g per 10 ml, so you will need to heat the solution slightly to dissolve the alum (but not very much, as the solubility is strongly temperature-dependent; 50oC should do the trick easily).although all alums are soluble in water , mention the need and objective for which you want to use alum
Alum also dissolved in soluble in Methanol and Ethanol.
can you give the reference of alum soluble in Ethanol or Methanol
Alum cannot be dissolved directly in methanol. But in fuel tanks made3 of Al it has bneen found that oxidised aluminium get dissolved in ethanol.
Is alum really soluble in organic solvents?????
They are nonpolar or less polar compared to water........ are you specifying with experience????
Or is it you solubilized in water and then made the volume with certain % of methanol or ethanol
I need to make an astringent solution (about .35%) in an alcohol (40%) base. My colleague said it took all night for the alum to dissolve. Is there a faster way to dissolve the potassium alum in my alcohol solution?
