My question is relative to calcium imaging in neuronal cells. I do not understand. with this technique can I see a calcium influx only due to activation of calcium permeable channels?. I mean, if I am activating a calcium permeable channel (let's say TRPV1 with capsaicin) , the increase in signal that I see is due to the calcium influx through that channel or due to the voltage gated calcium channels that get activated since the neuron depolarize? How can I differentiate between the two?
