The Spleen as a Reservoir for Monocytes

This great paper in Science from this week shows that undifferentiated monocytes reside in the spleen and become motile in response to inflammation or injury, deploying to the affected tissue area.  This is very interesting as it shows an incredibly important function for the spleen during inflammation or infection.

Definitely worth a read!
