Summary – Bio-informatician
Objective – To optimise and implement data analysis processes to support the design, development verification and validation of molecular diagnostic products for prenatal screening  
 
Main activities
• Refine existing algorithms to convert next generation sequencing data into actionable clinical information
• Liaise with the software development group to ensure that the commercial interpretation software needed for prenatal testing is optimised
• Work collaboratively with development scientists to create products and processes which meet the user needs of our customers
• Ensure that the technical development teams understand the implications for diagnostic accuracy of variation in sequence quality introduced by process variables
 
Requirements
• Further degree (or equivalent) in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer programming or similar
• Excellent programming, statistical and quantitative skills
• Ability to perform & troubleshoot bioinformatic analyses competently and independently
• Experience of working in a commercial organisation is preferable but not essential as is direct experience of working with next generation sequencing data sets
• Enthusiasm, drive, thoroughness, diligence and a willingness to take personal responsibility to ensure that projects are successful
• Management experience of scientists and/or projects
