Biochemical/Analytical Scientist I-9176
The BioAnalytical Lab, part of the Analytical Chemistry and Biochemistry group in the BioProcess Division at Millipore, serves R&D through new method development and analytical support of technology and product development. We are seeking a self-motivated Scientist I to provide analytical support to technology & predevelopment teams. The charter of the technology teams is to explore the latest in cutting-edge research in order to create revolutionary product offerings and disruptive technologies that could fundamentally alter the biotech industry.
This Scientist will 1) act as a liaison between the BioAnalytical and the Technology & Predevelopment teams, 2) conduct a variety of protein analysis and molecular biology assays for the characterization and quantification of biomolecules (proteins and nucleic acids), 3) interface with external analytical labs as needed and 4) build the basis for internal capabilities in the Technology & Predevelopment teams.
Skills needed include working experience with proteins and nucleic acids; familiarity with techniques and instrumentation required for ELISA, protein quantification, chromatography (especially HPLC), electrophoresis and PCR.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated with strong organizational skills, and excellent communication skills. The individual should work well in teams yet be also capable of working independently to perform, interpret and troubleshoot biomolecular assays (ELISA, BCA, Pico Green, SEC-HPLC, q-PCR, SDS-PAGE, IEF)
Qualified candidates will hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field
(biochemistry, chemistry, biology or biophysics) with 3+ years of industrial experience in independent scientific research, and be highly motivated with strong communication skills.
