We are looking for

We are looking for a Bioinformatics Research Assistant.
The bioinformatics assistant will join a small team that contributes to the further integration of bioinformatics in wet-lab activities of the Bioinformatics and Biostatistics program of the Centre for BioSystems Genomics 2012 (CBSG2012) by hands-on analysis, tool implementation and adjustment as well as small tool development. Research is coordinated with the activities in the Netherlands Bioinformatics Centre (NBIC).

We ask

The position requires a researcher with expertise in and/or interest for applied bioinformatics, holding at least a Bachelor degree in Bioinformatics (HBO).
We aim for an enthusiastic collaborator, who is strong in communication with wet-lab biologists and has a project-oriented attitude directed towards solutions. The candidate has:
Knowledge of and demonstrable experience in a UNIX environment.
Good programming and databasing skills (SQL, Python or Perl) and some knowledge of applied statistics(R).
Appropriate knowledge of molecular biology and related ‘omics’ fields.
A keen eye for new technological developments, both in silico (e.g. Galaxy workflow management) and at the bench (HTP sequencing; PacBIO)
Knowledge of plant genetics/breeding would be an asset

The position is initially available for one year. It is a full time position (36 hours). There is a possiblity of extension. The maximum gross salary will be € 3125,00 (scale 8) per month, depending on qualifications and experience.
