Adult Hematology/Oncology Blood & Marrow Tranplant
The Texas Transplant Institute, located in San Antonio, is currently seeking a physician for the adult blood and marrow transplant program. Requirements for this position include:* Eligible for licensure in Texas* Board Certified in Internal Medicine* Completion of a fellowship program* Board Certified and/or Board Eligible in Hematology and/or Medical OncologyThe successful candidate will have the opportunity to practice in a community-based academic setting, and develop clinical translational research opportunities. Collaboration with the solid organ transplant program at the Texas Transplant Institute also provides unique opportunities for research in combined transplants, immunosuppressive therapy, and cellular therapy techniques.Under the leadership of C. Fred LeMaistre, M.D., the program is a combined adult and pediatric program. The clinical program, bone marrow collection facility, stem cell collection facility, and cell-processing lab are fully accredited by FACT. Currently there are three adult transplant physicians and three pediatric transplant physicians. The pediatric program performs approximately 40 transplants a year. Adult and pediatric physicians perform autologous, related and unrelated allogeneic transplants, including cord blood transplants, averaging about 200 transplants a year. The programs are housed at Methodist Hospital and Methodist Children's Hospital of South Texas, both accredited by JCAHO.San Antonio offers a big city assets with small town charm.
