Under the new leadership of Professor Peter Schmid, the Barts Cancer Institute is recruiting to its Centre for Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre at the Charterhouse Square campus. This Centre is:
Generously funded by a joint initiative between the Department of Health & Cancer Research UK
Part of a nationwide network of 19 centres of scientific and clinical excellence
Aims to drive new anti cancer treatments to patients
Affiliated with the National Cancer Research Network and thus incorporate Phase I through to Phase IV clinical trials.
In bringing together laboratory and clinical patient-based research, the Centre promotes the translational work needed to develop new anti-cancer drugs and diagnostics from the laboratory into clinics and then to test them in early clinical trials.
The postholder will conduct on-site monitoring visits in accordance with CECM SOPs and study-specific monitoring plans. Monitoring is performed at participating trial sites to ensure that: the rights safety and well-being of human subjects are being protected, reported trial data are accurate and the trial is being conducted in compliance with the protocol and applicable regulatory requirements, including Good Clinical Practice. It is envisaged that the postholder would work closely with the Projects Manager and Portfolio Manager.
Candidates must have a degree in biological sciences or allied health field, significant experience of clinical trials research and independent trial monitoring, and a thorough understanding of Good Clinical Practice guidelines.

There are a number of Clinical Trial Monitor positions available, these are grade 4, full time positions, fixed term for 1 year in the first instance. Starting salary will be in the range £31,113 – £36,544 per annum inclusive of London Allowance and depending on experience. A market supplement may be offered to candidates with extensive experience in monitoring international, multicentre studies and/or in a commercial setting.
