Position Summary: This position is primarily responsible for over-seeing the entire primary and/or secondary operation within clinical packaging. Responsible for ensuring that all cGMP and SOP guidelines are followed by packaging employees, as well as ensuring quality guidelines and timelines are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Enforces and promotes workplace safety facility wide
Responsible for the oversight of 1st, 2nd and/or 3rd shift operations
Applies Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in all areas of responsibility
Demonstrates and promotes the company vision through Thermo Fisher’s 4 I’s – Intensity, Integrity, Innovation and Involvement
Serves a Role Model Leader, Coach and Mentor
Sets goals and holds team accountable for actions through coaching, development and annual performance review process
Provides positive and critical feedback to employees relating to their job performance. Meets individually with direct reports, at a minimum bi-weekly
Drives process development within the production environment. Independently identifies and resolves any issues.
Drives quality and productivity to meet schedule and financial commitments
Participates in daily Tier Accountability Boards to accurately report and communicate actions to attending departments
Indentifies critical metrics and provides monthly reports detailing the performance of the packaging group by shift and area along with action plans for improvement
Analyzes room set-up (line balancing) and evaluates techniques to improve the process
Participates in and actively encourages a culture of Continuous Improvement through ThermoFisher’s Practical Process Improvement (PPI) business model.
Works in conjunction with other managers to resolve any productivity or quality issues
Investigates problem reports, identifies root cause, and documents findings in Trackwise
Ensures that SOP’s are current and that they accurately portray what is being performed on the packaging floor
Responsible for compliance of SOP and cGMP training for all employees
Provides feedback to Senior Management with any issues and/or concerns
Performs other duties as assigned to meet the needs of business
Basic Minimum Qualifications (BMQ): To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability required.
Education/ Experience (BMQ): Bachelor degree and a minimum of 8-15 years in a regulated environment (cGMP/ Clinical Packaging) 12-15 years experience in a regulated industry in lieu of degree
Add’l preferences: Packaging, management, or pharmaceutical certification helpful. Lean Certification. Solid understanding of lean principles
Supervisory Responsibility: This position requires a minimum of 8-15 years of progressive people management experience.
Internal and External Contacts: Position has internal contact with all departments that support Operations. Position has contact with external clients as well as direct contact with customer representatives visiting the facility or through correspondence sent directly to clients
Ability and/or Skills (BMQ): This position requires a person who has shown exceptional leadership ability and excellent communication skills. The ability to completely understand all of the packaging processes, SOPs, and cGMP requirements is required.
