 Job Ref: ACAD101108
Contract Type: Annually renewable appointment

Work Hours: 40.0 Hours per Week

Expected Start Date: 31/03/2015

Continuing on the success of the NIHR-Clinical Lectureship scheme we are able to invite further applications for a post in academic ophthalmology at the University of Bristol and Severn Deanery.

The Clinical Lectureship is designed to provide postdoctoral support for an ophthalmologist-in-training who has completed or will have completed a higher degree (PhD, MD or equivalent) prior to starting the post. It provides 50% salary support to allow the clinician to set aside time to develop academic skills and compete for an externally funded postdoctoral training fellowship. The remaining 50% funding will be provided for clinical training.

The Lectureship is available for a maximum of four years and should enable the completion of clinical training, as well as the attainment of further support for research (e.g. personal fellowship or grants) and experience of teaching. The research interests of applicants should complement those within the Academic Unit of Ophthalmology  www.bristol.ac.uk/ophthalmology and http://www.bris.ac.uk/cellmolmed/air/) which is now linked with and runs one of the themes within the Biomedical Research Centre at Moorfields(http://www.brcophthalmology.org/)..
