The Microscopy and Imaging Core Facility is located within the Cancer Institute’s Paul O’Gorman Building, Huntley Street. The Microscopy and Imaging Core Facility provides basic and clinical researchers at the Cancer Institute with state-of-the-art equipment. The facility will house state-of-the-art confocal microscopes, live cell imaging platforms including Zeiss Cell Observer system.
The post holder will be expected to regularly monitor all of the microscopy and imaging equipment/platforms, arranging regular servicing of the instruments, providing training for the use of available equipment or any new equipment purchased by the Cancer Institute, setting up and implementing of booking and charging system, assisting customers with questions regarding operation of equipment and software, arranging servicing of equipment. The facility is overseen by Drs. Salomoni, Tomita and Hadjur, and is managed by the Cancer Research UK - UCL Centre Manager.
The post is funded until 31st March 2017 in the first instance.
Ideal candidates will have significant experience/background in cell biology and have a proven record of research projects using microscopes by publishing in peer reviewed journals or experience on running a microscope facility.
The successful candidate should have extensive knowledge on the principle and system of microscopy, experience on the maintenance of fluorescent microscope systems and expertise on confocal microscope systems. The post holder would be expected to work independently.
